Dominicans are taking Valentine’s Day, 14 February very seriously. Sales of chocolates, cupcakes, orchids, roses and flowers have boomed. The day is being celebrated with gift-giving in the office and at home. City restaurants have special menus, and shows are scheduled at Hard Rock Cafe (singer Tony Dize), Teatro La Fiesta of the Hotel Jaragua (Yolandita Monge and Danny Rivera), Jet Set (Venezuelan Guillermo Davila) and National Theater (Gilberto Santa Rosa).
