President Danilo Medina inaugurated the remodeled buildings at Hotel Be Live Hamaca in Boca Chica and highlighted the country’s positive foreign investment climate.
The hotel, owned by Spanish businessman Juan Jose Hidalgo, president of Grupo Globalia, has had 155 rooms refurbished , including new floors, bathrooms, lighting, decorations, as well as the public areas, restaurants, and entertainment and sports facilities.
During the inauguration event yesterday, Wednesday 13 February, Hidalgo said that the hotel now has 693 rooms, five restaurants, five bars, casinos, a spa, children’s club, gym, theater, event rooms and other facilities. He pointed out that it was only a few kilometers from Santo Domingo.
He said that he was very happy to be in the Dominican Republic, where he now spends more time than his native Spain. He promised President Medina that he would increase flights to the country by his airline, Air Europa, in replacement of the flights that are being suspended by Iberia.
He said that Grupo Globalia had invested over US$500 million in the country and employed more than 3,000 Dominicans.
