President Danilo Medina did the honors and cut the ribbon at the Costa Norte tourist complex in Playa Grande, province of Maria Trinidad Sanchez yesterday, Monday 18 February. The complex, which includes a boutique hotel and residential lots, will be developed in three stages. The total investment of some US$400 million is the largest ever made in the history of the province and on the North Coast since the 1970s when Playa Dorada and the Puerto Plata International Airport were built. This new tourism venture is the work of North Shore Land Holdings, Inc., and their mission statement is to respect the environment and involve the surrounding communities in the project’s development. The first phase is located at the eastern end of the Playa Grande property and is centered on the 16-room boutique hotel and the basic infrastructure.
