The Police have announced that members of the Central Department of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM), will carry out an investigation to establish why two children, aged 7 and 9, drowned in an abandoned swimming pool in a sports complex in La Romana.
The children, from Villa San Carlos area in La Romana, were Willy Alvarez Simon, son of Franchesca Elin Simon (Nayi), aged 24, and Santiago Carrion Jimenez (Maiqui), son of Elpidio Carrion.
According to the initial information, both children were playing in the pool area with some other friends, when they slipped, fell in and drowned. Several people tried to rescue them but to no avail.
