The Falcondo Xstrata Nickel mining concern, which exploits nickel deposits in Bonao and La Vega, says that the difference in prices registered between the reports delivered to the Dominican government and the head office correspond, basically, to calculations that were made according to the operations period and that have nothing to do with an undervaluation that would affect the state.
This clarification was made in response to a report sent to the Presidential Minister, Gustavo Montalvo, by Rafael Puello Donamaria, which said that the company has not paid the state around RD$4 billion for taxes and earnings. Three of the top directors of Falcondo visited the offices of Listin Diario and pointed out that Puello Donamaria is involved in a judicial case against the mining company.
