28-year old Colombian Edwin Sanchez, competing for the Guadeloupe team, has won the grand trophy in the 34th Independence Cycling Tour that ended on Wednesday, 27 February. His final time was 22:25.34, placing him 1:16 minutes ahead of compatriot Oscar Pachon, of the Formesan team. Third place was won by Bruno Langlois, of Garneau Quebecor from Canada. Dominican Ismael Sanchez, from La Vega, came fourth, 3:11 minutes behind, and Andres Diaz, from Santiago was fifth, 3:21 minutes behind. The Independence Tour is the country’s leading cycling race. Sanchez is celebrating his first ever win.
