President Danilo Medina has announced that he will be attending the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s funeral in Caracas, traveling either this evening Thursday 7 or on Friday morning, 8 March.
Yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 6 March he signed the book of condolences at the Venezuelan Embassy, followed by a meeting with the Ambassador Alberto Castelar.
The President described Chavez as a leader for the whole region and talked about the support he always gave to the Dominican Republic. After the meeting Ambassador Alberto Castelar told the press that the Petrocaribe agreement would remain in place, saying that it was a “commitment of the Venezuelan revolution.”
Former President Leonel Fernandez also announced he would be present at the funeral ceremony on Friday, 8 March.
