PRD president Miguel Vargas Maldonado has announced that a delegation of high-ranking party officials will be going to the funeral of the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
In a letter to the Venezuelan ambassador in the DR he announced that the delegation would include Peggy Cabral, the widow of former party leader Jose Francisco Pena Gomez, who is the party’s secretary of International Relations, Ruddy Gonzalez, spokesman in the Chamber of Deputies, Silvia Garcia, vice president of the Central American Parliament and vice president of the PRD and Henry Sarraf, also party vice president.
In the letter, Vargas Maldonado highlighted the charismatic leadership role that Chavez played throughout the Americas and the great friendship and solidarity he showed towards the Dominican people, which, he said, they would always be grateful for.
