Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo met with Dominican manufacturing sector representatives yesterday, Thursday 7 March to follow up on the Second Dominican Industry Congress held in April last year. During the congress the government committed to improving the business climate for local production and export free zones. Industry and Commerce Minister Jose del Castillo, Development Policies advisor Antonio Isa Conde, and deputy ministers Anina del Castillo and Ignacio Mendez attended the meeting at the Presidential Palace. Proindustria director Alexandra Izquierdo and Luisa Fernandez of the National Council of Export Free Zones were also present.
Yandra Portela, Aquiles Bermudez, Circe Almanzar, Luis Manuel Pellerano, Manuel Tavares, Miguel Lama, Kai Schoenhals, Jose Manuel Torres and Carlos Rodriguez represented the industrial and free zone sector.
The president of the Dominican Free Zones Association (Adozona), Aquiles Bermudez said that the dialogue between public and private sectors was very important and predicted that “very good results will come from this table.”
