Illegal slot machines destroyed

As part of the ‘Zero tolerance for illegal gambling machines’ campaign, staff from the Treasury Ministry destroyed 50 illegal machines in Santiago yesterday, Wednesday 13 March, which had been in use in Santiago, La Vega, Moca and Jarabacoa.

The scrapping of the machines took place during an operation headed by the Technical Administrative Deputy Minister of the Treasury, Francisco Feliz, and the Director of Casinos and Gambling, Rafael Jaquez, when they handed over a truck to Felix Rodriguez, northern region sub director for Casinos and Gambling, as part of the campaign that was started in 2011. The campaign, directed by the Treasury Ministry, seeks to eradicate the business of illegal gaming machines throughout the country, as they are used by many people, including children, who stop going to school just so that they can play on these machines.
