According to El Caribe, the television presenter whose vehicle was found to contain two suitcases with US$300,000 in December, belonging to a Colombian involved in a drug trafficking and money-laundering network, has been named as Angie Agramonte.
The Colombian who owns the money is Ginaliz Quintero Flores, also known as Gina or ‘La Gorda.’
German Miranda Villalona, director of the Anti-Money Laundering Unit at the Attorney General’s office, said that at first they did not disclose the television presenter’s name because they needed to investigate whether or not she was involved.
He said that they could not damage her reputation by releasing her name, and now they could confirm that she was not involved but that she had lent her car to the Colombian woman, as they were friends.
The Attorney General, Francisco Dominguez Brito, agreed that her name could now be released.
The arrest was made on December 12 when Quintero Flores was at the Machu Picchu restaurant in the National District, together with Agramonte Rojas.
Quintero Flores was then seen putting two suitcases into the truck of the car, and when they were checked they had false bottoms, where the money was found, under her clothes and possessions.
She is currently in jail awaiting her appeal hearing.
Diario Libre questions why Miranda delayed in offering the names of the two women involved in the case.
