Expect all action in the DR to stop at 7pm this evening, Thursday 14 March as the nation tunes in to watch the USA vs. DR game in the World Baseball Classic. Both teams are vying to win the championship for the first time. The two teams combined have 21 Major League Baseball All-Stars on their rosters. The two teams have never faced each other in previous World Baseball Classics.
The winner of this game gets a guaranteed pass to the semi-finals to take place in San Francisco, California. The loser will get a second chance when it faces Puerto Rico on Friday, 15 March.
The World Baseball Classic is the world’s premier international baseball tournament, featuring a country-by-country selection of some of the game’s best players competing for their home countries and territories. The tournament kicked off with qualifying rounds in September and November 2012 and is now followed by the 39-game, multi-round main tournament that is taking place in March 2013.
