The government is going to spend RD$700 million on remodeling and equipment for 36 public hospitals that have been declared as the highest priorities. Sixteen of them have been taken over by the authorities in the areas of infrastructure, human resources and equipment. Reporter Diego Pesquera of Hoy newspaper says that the Minister of Public Health Freddy Hidalgo is going to fulfill the government’s commitment to train 3,000 health promoters as well as opening hundreds of primary healthcare units and dozens of well-equipped diagnostic centers.
