The Chamber of Deputies has approved the proposed new Civil Code and the bill now moves to the Senate for final passing.
The new code includes new grounds for divorce, dispositions relating to gender and domestic violence, parental authority and inheritance issues.
Justice Commission chairman Demostenes Martinez said that the new Civil Code reflected the reality of the times.
