Nearly one year after a Taiwanese diplomat in the Dominican Republic was found stabbed to death, the incident remains under investigation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan has been in contact with police in the Dominican Republic and expressed hope that the case will be solved as soon as possible.
Police in the Dominican Republic have questioned several possible suspects in the death of 55-year-old Julia Ou, but have not found anyone whose DNA matches the alleged murderer in the case.
During a visit to the Dominican Republic last December, Taiwanese Foreign Minister David Lin told President Danilo Medina that Taiwan was willing to provide forensic assistance and that he hoped the case could be solved as soon as possible.
Ou was found stabbed to death at her home in Santo Domingo on April 17, 2012 after she failed to show up for work at the Taiwan embassy where she had served for more than one year as a second secretary.
