The Federation of the Association of Teachers at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (Faprouasd) has issued a writ at the Appeal Court in the National District, against the rector of the university, Mateo Aquino Febrillet, accusing him of embezzling more than RD$61 million of university funds.
The writ also names Administrative Vice Rector Emma Polanco, Sales and Supplies Director, Cesar Ramos, Treasurer Miguelina Brache and Finance Manager Adam Peguero. Faprouasd accuses Mateo Aquino Febrillet and his colleagues of awarding a contract worth RD$61,451,160 to a business that supposedly operates in an alleyway in the La Yaguita neighborhood in the capital.
