New alternatives for habitats in exhibition at Centro Cultural de Espana

Architects in the Dominican Republic are inviting the public to an exhibition of alternatives for low-cost housing and habitats in cities and rural communities at the Spanish Cultural Center in the Colonial City in Santo Domingo. The exhibition shows a range of alternatives in Spain, Latin America in addition to those in the Dominican Republic. It focuses on new methods for solutions for housing. The exhibition starts this Friday, 22 March at 7pm and will be open to the public until 5 May (from 9am to 9pm, Monday to Saturday). To accompany the exhibition, the Centro Cultural de Espana is organizing several workshops for discussions. The activity is sponsored by the Spanish Development Ministry, in partnership with the Ibero-American Federation of Urban planners, the International Union of Architects and their work program Actions without Borders (UIA-AwB).

In the Dominican Republic, the Centro Cultural de Espana worked with the city government of Moca with the backing of the Andalusia regional government Housing and Development Council. Other entities that will be presenting Dominican alternatives for low-cost housing are: the National Housing Institute (INVI), the Land Development Department (DGODT), the Ministry of Tourism, the Municipality of Santiago, the National District Municipality, the Dominican Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, the Dominican Integrated Development Institute (IDDI), Alternative City, the Community Action Institute (IDAC), CoopHabitat and A Roof for My Country.
