President Danilo Medina continued his routine of visiting out-of-the-way places over the weekend, 23-24 March, traveling from Cabo Rojo, Pedernales to Macasias and Rio Limpio in Elias Pina in the southwest and then on to Jarabacoa, in central La Vega. During his travels he offered encouragement to local residents in the shape of commitments to pave streets, promote farming and exports, and to strengthen the Dominican presence along the border. The President met with community and business leaders in several communities and listened to their stories. The work of the Specialized Border Security Corps (Cesfront) to populate the border region through a settlement program called Border Farm Production Units received special attention from the President. Finally, in Jarabacoa, the President met with Canadian Gerard Trudeau, whose company “Flores de Jarabacoa” exports 16 varieties of herbs, flowers and vegetables.
