The Office of Supervisory Works of the Presidency (OISOE) has announced plans for the construction of three bridges over the Ozama and Isabela rivers, the expansion of the Avenida Jose Ortega y Gasset to Villa Mella in the north of the Province of Santo Domingo and the construction of a bridge over the Isabela River, the continuation of the Ozama. He said the bridges would not be similar to the Duarte and Juan Bosch bridges, but built closer to the river, which is more cost-effective.
Two large parking buildings are planned for the Colonial City n one at Plaza Espana and another in Atarazana, each with capacity for 500 vehicles.
The aim is to decongestion traffic in the Greater Santo Domingo, as reported in Hoy. The director of OISOE, Miguel Pimentel Kareh said that the cancer hospital built on the state university UASD campus would be delivered to the Ministry of Public Health in April. He said equipment worth US$20 million has been installed.
Pimentel Kareh also announced the reconstruction of the Luis Eduardo Aybar Hospital in Santo Domingo, the Cabral y Baez Hospital in Santiago and the possible construction of a regional hospital in San Francisco de Macoris.
The mayor of Santo Domingo East also announced the reconstruction of Av. Venezuela and expansion of sidewalks in the municipality.
