The Tiffany jewelers-made silver trophy for the World Baseball Classic has been in the Dominican Republic since last Tuesday, 19 March. The plans are for it to go on tour in Santo Domingo and the provinces so more people can celebrate the win of the championship in the final 3-0 game against Puerto Rico.
The Dominican Baseball Federation will keep the trophy until the next Classic in 2017. The plan is to exhibit the trophy in Santo Domingo shopping malls and other public spaces.
Heroe (Tito) Pereyra was at the Listin Diario offices to show off the trophy, and also visited BHD Bank, a leading sponsor of the team for the past two classics.
