Police quick at catching prosecutor’s assailants

Several armed men robbed an assistant prosecutor of the Gender Violence Court, Alba Corona, and her friend, Creisly Corniel in the parking area of her residence in Altos de Rafey in Santiago de los Caballeros on Saturday, 23 March. The men took her purse, her laptop and cell phone and her friend’s purse.

That same afternoon, though, the Police announced the arrest of four men now accused of robbing the women, according to El Caribe. The incident occurred when the four men on two motorcycles came into the driveway of her house and in the presence of her three children aged eight, five and one and other family members, took her purse, two cell phones and a laptop. Until recently, Corona had been the director of the Gender Violence Unit and currently is heading the Department Against Human Trafficking.
