Seven new ambassadors

President Danilo Medina received the accreditations of new ambassadors for Australia, India, Malaysia, Sweden, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, and Venezuela at the Presidential Palace yesterday, Monday 25 March. President Medina was accompanied by Foreign Relations Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso and deputy minister Jose Manuel Trullols.

The new diplomats are:

Timothy Spencer George of Australia, a graduate in law who has been a career diplomat since 1975. He has previously held posts in the Philippines, Chile, Russia, Fiji, Malaysia and New Zealand, Spain, Israel and Pakistan. George has served as director for Europe, director for Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean at the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Canberra.

Chinthapally Rajasekhar of India, a graduate in business and law and research. A career diplomat for the past 22 years, he has served in posts in several countries including Japan, South Korea, the UK and Cuba.

Jojie Samuel of Malaysia, a specialist in Asia who began his diplomatic career in 1992.

Claes Hammar of Sweden, a graduate in international finance and law. A career diplomat since 1979, he has held several positions at the Ministry of Foreign Relations in Sweden. He has served in posts in Kuwait, Switzerland, Brazil, South Africa and the United States.

Hansan Servet Okten of Turkey, a graduate of political sciences who began his diplomatic career in 1977. He has served in Germany, Iran and Canada.

Iva Camille Gloudon of Trinidad & Tobago, a graduate in Education specializing in literature. She has also specialized in bioscience, administration and human resources management. She is an outstanding hockey athlete in Trinidad and has been appointed to the Ministry of Sports of her country.

Alberto Efrain Castellar Padilla of Venezuela, a graduate in human resources management and political science. He has had a long career as a legislator.
