Punta Cana drug haul incinerated

The Attorney General’s office has incinerated more than 698 kilograms of different types of drugs, including more than 691 kilograms of cocaine that were recently confiscated during the operation at Punta Cana airport.

The director of the National Institute of Forensic Science (INACIF), Francisco Gerdo said that the drugs related to 608 cases that had occurred between Monday 18 and Sunday 24 March this year.

He said as well as the cocaine discovered at Punta Cana International Airport, of which 10 kilograms has been retained for evidence, they had also incinerated heroin, marijuana and crack.

The report from INACIF lists the drugs incinerated by weight and province, and the only provinces where no drugs had been decommissioned in the time period were Elias Pina, Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo), Bahoruco, Valverde (Mao) and Pedernales.
