The second line of the Santo Domingo Metro is now in operation, connecting 14 stations in the northern part of the city with 16 of the first line that crosses the city north-south. The new line that goes under John F. Kennedy Avenue makes it easier to visit the city attractions of the Agora and Sambil malls, as the metro has stops at both commercial centers. Visitors can also check out the attractions of the Plaza de la Cultura (Museums of Dominican Man, Modern Art) and even attend shows at the National Theater. For a RD$20 fare, users can also ride Line 1 that runs north-south and provides a quick view of the city of Santo Domingo. The new 12.8km line starts at Av. Luperon and continues to the Padre Castellanos stop near the Ozama River. Passengers can connect with Line 1 at the Maximo Gomez stop. This line continues to the Centro de los Heroes, a short walk from the city’s Malecon seafront boulevard.
