Mexicans Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen defeated the United States duo of Bradley Keenan and John Mayer with a convincing 21-14 and 21-17 to win the Norceca Beach Volleyball Tournament with competitors from several countries in Boca Chica over the Easter long weekend. The bronze medal went to Canadians Chaim Schalk and Benjamin Saxton who defeated their compatriots Christian Redman and Maciej Zbyszewski by default (knee injury). In women’s Jennifer Fopma and Brooke Sweat defeated US teammates Britanny Hochevar and Summer Ross 189-21, 21-18, 17-15 for gold. The bronze went to Mexicans Bibi Candela and Marta Revuelta who defeated Canadians Heather Bansley and Elizabeth Maloney, 21-15, 16-21, 10-15.
The Ministry of Sports organized 90 beach volleyball championships at beaches in the DR for healthy entertainment during the Easter Holiday.
The Boca Chica Volleyball Tournament, which ended on Sunday, 31 March, was the second leg of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit.
