National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso has told the press that the man held responsible for the murder of three siblings who were celebrating the Dominican World Baseball Classic win last month didn’t have a driver’s license. Reynoso, nevertheless, said that according to the reports received there is no proof that 20-year old Robert Bocio Nova, who has confessed to the killings, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Bocio crashed into the celebrating bystanders late at night after losing control of the Suzuki Gran Vitara he was driving. The vehicle belongs to his brother. The 19 March victims were brothers and sister Jose Santana Alcantara, a 43-year old barber, Delis Santana Alcantara, 38, and Margarita Santana Alcantara, 45, a hairdresser. Bocio fled the scene but later turned himself in to the police at the Casa del Conductor police and insurance facility the next day, Wednesday 20 March. Reynoso said that the decision to release him on bail was appealed.
