The president of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), General Rolando Rosado Mateo, has said that he will personally lead the investigation into the murder of a man in Puerto Plata by drug dealers, after he complained about the existence of a drug sales point.
He said that it was intolerable that a citizen who behaved responsibly by making a complaint about drug dealing should then suffer physical aggression.
Adalberto Pichardo Martinez, member of the opposition PRD party was shot by drug dealers on Monday 8 April and subsequently died. His son was also shot.
Rosado Mateo said he was determined to bring the culprits to justice.
