Michelle Cohen to head Pro Competencia

President Danilo Medina swore in Michelle Cohen yesterday, Tuesday April 9, as a member of the Advisory Committee of the National Commission for the Defense of Competition (Pro-Competencia). Pro Competition is an autonomous government entity in charge of promoting fair competition and market efficiency in the Dominican Republic. Cohen, a multilingual lawyer and expert in international politics, has served as ambassador for UN and OAS affairs for the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

Cohen was selected by the National Congress in a vote by the Deputies Chamber from a shortlist provided by the Executive Branch, according to the Law on the Defense of Competition. She is filling the vacancy left by Luis Reyes Santos, who was recently appointed as National Director of the Budget and a Vice Minister at the Treasury.
