Digital Latinvex has published its latest ranking of the 100 leading businesswomen in Latin America, and it includes five Dominicans who are Isabel Turull, president of Agape, which has the franchises for Burger King, Papa John’s and Krispy Kreme and Palacio del Cine, Elena Viyella de Paliza, president of Inter-Quimica, Darys Estrella, vice president of corporate sustainability for the Vicini Group, Mercedes Canalda de Beras-Goico, executive vice president of Banco ADOPEM, and Ligia Bonetti, vice president of MercaSID.
In a press release, Latinvex say that this is the longest list it has put together and also includes foreign executives as well as natives of the 15 countries analyzed.
They highlighted several women who have played a key role in the promotion of business in Latin America via business groups and investment agencies, including Bonetti in her role in the Industry Association and Maribel Gasso, the president of the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce.
Mexico dominated the rankings with 26 women, followed by Colombia with 18. Brazil, the largest economy in Latin America, only had 11.
Looking at the businesses included, UPS was the most featured with four entries, followed by General Motors, Microsoft, Oracle and Pepsico with three entries each. General Electric, Pfizer, SAP and Walmart had two mentions each.
