Public Administration Minister Ramon Ventura Camejo is urging Congress to move forward on the General Public Wages Bill. The bill had advanced in Congress at the end of the Fernandez government, only to stagnate again after the start of the Medina administration. Ventura says that if the bill is not passed, the nation will be condemned to decisions on wages in government offices that are discretionary, lacking transparency and irrational. The country needs to adapt wages as a tool for the effective management of government officials, as is done in countries that have reached a comprehensive development of the public administration, says Ventura. He adds that all sectors should demand that the Chamber of Deputies move on the bill that was vetoed by former President Leonel Fernandez at the end of his second term.
