The Chamber of Deputies has returned to further study the bill aimed at creating the 911 emergency system. The imposition of an additional RD$20 charge on telecommunication fixed billings has been met with widespread rejection. Spokesman for the PLD deputies, Gustavo Sanchez said that the Chamber’s Interior & Police commission would be reviewing the project again. Elias Serulle, who drafted the bill, said that new sources of funding for the program would be proposed.
