The Police have identified the main suspect in the murder of Colonel Julian Suarez Cordero during a protest at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) on Tuesday, 23 April as Wilson Dasiel Javier Nicasio, a member of the Felabel student group.
Javier Nicasio is currently on the run, so meanwhile the police have arrested his mother Fiordaliza Nicasio Montilla and his sisters Maydelis and Dawilda Javier Nicasio.
They have also arrested others associated with the incident: Wander Lugo Ortiz, Maikel Ortiz, Jeison Reyes Suriel, Felix Victor Suriel Almanzar and Wellington Payero Diaz.
Lawyer Elias Nicasio Javier, who is related to Wilson Javier Nicasio, says he will contact him and tell him to hand himself in to the police. He promised to find a safe way for him to hand himself in, as he does not trust the police, recalling the case of Angelo Jean Carlo De Leon, alias Cacon, who was killed by the National Police on the day that he said he would hand himself over to the authorities who were looking for him in connection with the death of Lieutenant Colonel Pedro de la Cruz.
