Pacts and budgetary transparency for Economic and Social Council

The Medina administration met with business representatives yesterday, Wednesday 24 April and pledged to restart the work of the Economic and Social Council (CES) to achieve effective implementation of the three national pacts n education, energy and economy. The pacts are established in the National Development Strategy Law passed in 2012.

The private sector was represented by the board of the National Business Council (Conep) and the government by four ministers n Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo, Administrative Minister Jose Ramon Peralta, Hacienda Minister Simon Lizardo and Economy, Planning and Development Minister Temistocles Montas.

Manuel Diez, speaking for Conep, highlighted the government’s commitment to publishing monthly budgetary execution statements. The PLD administrations have lagged behind in this transparency requirement. Diez praised the Medina administration’s responsible management of public finances. He said the business sector is hoping to see professional, institutional and transparent re-launch of the government.

In a statement, the Conep said that businesspeople are committed to creating the conditions needed for pushing forward the national pacts in the framework of the national pacts.
