Tourist numbers down slightly

The number of tourists arriving in the first three months of this year was down by 0.64% compared to the same period last year, according to the latest report from the Central Bank. The Central Bank attributes the decrease to the continued economic crisis in Europe and the cancellation of certain flights from North America and some European countries.

However, in March the number of non-resident visitors increased by 4.46%, some 21,358 more tourists than in March last year. In the first three months the figure was 1,347,053.

Most (60.45%) visitors come from North America, followed by Europe with 27.1% and South America with 9.4%.
