Alberto Navarro to head EU mission in Dominican Republic

The current Spanish ambassador to Morocco, Alberto Navarro has been appointed the new head of the European Union Delegation to the Dominican Republic. Navarro has also served as director of ECHO and as head of the former Commission Delegation to Brazil.

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy as well as the Vice President of the Commission, announced his appointment on Friday 3 May. The appointment is part of the 2013 rotation exercise within the European External Action Service (EEAS), the European Union’s diplomatic wing, and supports the EU foreign policy chief in conducting the common foreign and security policy.
