Seven communities were cut off and three families left homeless after the Canabo River in the municipal district of Jayaco-La Seiba flooded earlier this week.
The communities cut off are El Llano, Penalo, Jengibre, Cercadillo, Pitufo and Los Cachimbos.
Fifty people have been evacuated from their homes to a shelter prepared by the district director of Jayaco, Carlos Rodriguez, who visited the area along with the Monsenor Nouel Provincial Governor, Miguel Angel Genao.
Rodriguez has declared a state of emergency in the area and expressed concern that there could be more landslides if the rain continues.
Meanwhile in the center of Bonao the heavy rainfall damaged several vehicles and several trees were brought down. Local residents are demanding improvements to the drainage system to prevent roads flooding when it rains.
