Deportees arrive home

The United States Immigration Service has deported 101 Dominican criminals who have served their time in US jails for drug dealing, murder, robbery, document forgery, sex offences, kidnapping, assaults, fraud and other crimes.

This brings the total number of deportees this year to 1,248.

The deportees were taken from Las Americas International Airport to the Migration Department in Santo Domingo, where, if they have no outstanding warrants in this country, they will be handed over to their families.

The Dominican Migration department estimates that more than 6,000 Dominicans are in jail in the United States for a range of offences.
