Yesterday, Wednesday, May 8, the Dominican Medical Association (CMD) protested outside the Presidential Palace in Santo Domingo demanding a 100% increase in public hospital doctors’ salaries.
Association president Amarilis Herrera did not announce a strike but she stated that the doctors had planned a series of protests aimed at achieving their demands.
The last time the doctors received a pay rise was in 2010 during the last Leonel Fernandez government.
