Robinson Cano, one of the key players in the Dominican win of the World Baseball Classic, has just slammed his 1,500th hit playing for the New York Yankees. He joins the exclusive group of the 10 Dominicans still playing in Major League Baseball who have batted 1,500 hits or more. The others are Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Tejada, Albert Pujols, Adrian Beltre, Placido Polanco, Aramis Ramirez, Alfonso Soriano, David Ortiz and Rafael Furcal.
He became the fifth-youngest New York Yankee to reach the milestone before 31, with only Derek Jeter, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig and Don Mattingly getting to that mark quicker.
