Medina visits Nagua and promises $ for farmers

President Danilo Medina was in Nagua on Sunday, 12 May and ordered the Nagua and El Echado rivers to be dredged and diverted, the acquisition and installation of three new irrigation pumps and the construction of the water works at the Mota Osoria dyke, for RD$56 million to benefit rice farmers in the Maria Trinidad Sanchez province, in the northeast of the country. Over the weekend he was in El Pozo and Mata Bonita to hear rice farmers speak about their problems.

During the visit he also said the government would finance boats for fishermen in Baoba del Pinal and would make funding available for oregano farmers in the province.
