The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) is forecasting heavy showers over a lot of the country today, especially in the afternoon and evening. Most of this activity is expected in the northeast, southeast and over the Central Mountains. There should also be a slight drop in temperatures, making for a pleasant evening. The low-pressure system to the northeast of the island is not likely to affect today’s weather. The rains are caused by the winds from the east/northeast that will bring in a lot of water-laden clouds that will produce the rains.
