Hundreds of daycare centers

The Ministry of Education is preparing to build 100 daycare centers with the aim of putting the “Quisqueya Begins with You” program into effect, as part of the National Integrated Child Care Plan. According to a statement from the Ministry of Education, the objective of these daycare centers “is to improve the quality of life of children under the age of five.” The ministry plans to build 216 daycare centers that can serve 90,000 children, as well as installing and remodeling 1000 community centers.

With this in mind, the Ministry of Education urgently convened a tender yesterday, Tuesday 14 May, for projects in which civil engineers, architects and construction companies are invited to take part. All interested parties can find the guidelines on the ministry website www.minerd.gob.do or www.comprasdominicanas,gov.do. The ministry is hoping to attract offers from all of the provinces. Applicants must be on the Registry of State Suppliers. Their tax payments and social security obligations must be up to date and they should not be engaged in a current state project. The draws will be public events held simultaneously all over the country, on Friday, 5 July at 10am. The guidelines also state that each company may only participate in one province.
