The Iberostar Costa Dorada in Puerto Plata is hosting the Dominican Republic Fashion Week, organized by fashion designer Jorge Diep. The event, which takes place from 21 to 25 May is a benefit for the Integracion Juvenil youth center and orphanage. Designers Jenny Polanco, Arcadio Diaz, Marisol Henriquez and Alberino from the Dominican Republic are taking part, along with international fashion designers who have come for the event, Shantall Lacayo (Nicaragua), David Antonio (Puerto Rico), Carlos Vigil (Peru), Rosita Hurtado (Bolivia) and Ruben Campos (Chile). Jose Raul and Sonia Santiago (Puerto Rico, Wendy Luzon (Dominican Republic), Vicente Blasco (Spain), Ana Maria Zuluaga (Colombia) and Harumi Momota (Peru) are also participating.
An attraction this year is the appearance of the 40 Mr. Universe candidates who will serve as models.
