In a meeting with President Danilo Medina at the Presidential Palace yesterday, Wednesday 22 May, the executive president of Venezuelan bank Banesco, Juan Carlos Escotet, said that the decisions and changes made by the Monetary Board in the Dominican Republic have resulted in the growth of the financial intermediary sector, which has motivated him to increase the bank’s business interests in the country.
He said that they would open three new branches this year, bringing the total in the country to 14. Banesco has been operating in the DR for two years. He went on to say that the bank has over seven million clients and US$34,000 million in the seven countries where it operates.
Jesus Benedicto Diaz, executive president of the bank in Santo Domingo, Luis Xavier Lujan, president of the Banesco Insurance Branch and the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Jose Ramon Peralta were also present at the meeting.
