Rains and thunderstorms

The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) is forecasting rains and thunder and lightning throughout most of the country due to the presence of a low-pressure trough. The low-pressure area is maintaining humidity and sufficient instability in the atmosphere for these showers. Most rains are expected over the northeast, southeast, southwest, the Central Mountains and along the border. Onamet says that these conditions should last for between 24 and 48 hours, with cloud cover increasing towards midday and rain over much of the country. The COE has limited its green alert to five (5) provinces: San Cristobal – especially Villa Altagracia, Monsignor Nouel (Bonao), Monte Plata, and Greater Santo Domingo and the National District.
