DR promoted as location for the stars

The Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism promoted its reputation as a popular vacation destination for celebrities and an ideal filming location by sponsoring People en Espanol’s 17th annual “50 Most Beautiful” issue gala at New York City’s Marquee. The prestigious red carpet affair on Monday, 13 May celebrated the highly anticipated issue that features the 50 most regarded A-List celebrities in the US Hispanic market.

“We are proud to align with an event that honors the diversity, beauty and culture in Hispanic entertainment,” said Magaly Toribio, Marketing Advisor for the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism. “The Dominican Republic believes in celebrating diversity and has something for everyone in each of its distinct regions.”

Indomina Pinewood Studios in the Caribbean will formally inaugurate its studios located in the tourist destination of Juan Dolio, less than 40 minutes from Santo Domingo.

The facility includes a state-of-the art technology including a world-class water tank for moviemaking. Since the passing of the Cinema Incentive Law in 2010 the number of films made locally has already grown from four or five a year to 23 in 2012. With the new facility filmmaking is expected to grow significantly.
