The assistant prosecutor for Children and Young People, Marisol Tobar, has announced that the legal authorities are checking to see if there is an extradition agreement with Poland in order to bring a priest accused of raping several minors in Santiago, Alberto Gil, back to the Dominican Republic.
Following a raid on his home in his parish of San Antonio de Padua, in Juncalito, Janico, Alberto Gil was accused of sexual abuse of minors, and the raid uncovered hard disks and camera memories full of evidence, plus 10 passports.
According to reports, his actions had been going on for a long time, and he had promised many of the children he would take them to Poland.
He is currently overseas, after leaving two of the children stranded at an airport in Italy.
