The strike for improved conditions and a pay rise has moved to the hospitals in the five Eastern provinces, during Monday June 3, where only emergencies were being treated.
The strike, which was called by the Dominican Medical Association (CMD) and the nursing unions, is a continuation of previous days last week in Santo Domingo and the north and south of the country.
Hospitals were affected in Hato Mayor, El Seibo, La Romana, Higuey, San Pedro de Macoris and 22 municipalities in the area.
Jose Manuel Caram, representing public hospital doctors in Hato Mayor, said that the strike was only for 12 hours, and everything would be back to normal on Tuesday, 4 June.
