Swimming in the Pan American Masters Swimming Championship taking place in Sarasota, Florida, 50-year old Danilo Vicioso clocked in 1:09.17 to win the 100 Meter Backstroke finals. He won a second gold finishing 2:33.50 to win the 200-meter backstroke final. Today, Tuesday 11 June, Vicioso also came third in the 200 Individual Medley (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle) 50-54 category, with a time of 2:31.13.
Vicioso swims with the Dominicana Masters team that represents Dominican Republic in the event. Vicioso lives and trains in Casa de Campo, La Romana.
Other team members are Franklin Mieses (39), Rafael Velez (39) and women team members Cynthia Payano (38) and Ana Y. Tejeda (42).
A total of 226 teams are participating in the event, mainly from the Americas. 1,241 competitors are registered in the event taking place from 8 to 12 June.
This is the first time the USA has hosted the biennial event. The Championship attracts up to 2,000 adult swimmers from South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada and the USA.
