The Emergency Operations Center has issued a green alert for the area of Greater Santo Domingo due to the heavy rains affecting much of the country. They called upon people living near rivers, creeks or streams to be on the lookout for rising waters and possible landslides. The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) is forecasting lots of rains due to a low-pressure trough over the Windward Passage. The rainfall is expected in the northwest, northeast, southeast and central regions as well as the Central Mountains and along the border.
